my freeware copy of Hidefiles needed updating.
I downloaded the update zipfile from the Spydex website.
When I tried to unzip the file, I was told that my copy is expired!
What does that mean and how do I get my upgrade? I am also having problems with the program being switched OFF during bootup, instead of switched ON to protect my folders.

Well it's difficult to define now what is happened with your installed program. It is quite possible that you tried to play with system date (either try to set your system date back or use some special time back software) to recover your expired version. But trial version of Hide Files has special protection against such trick.

So only program license order (i.e. our registration key) will recover expired version for the following use. Otherwise you can't use our program more but can uninstall it of course.

If your trial version is expired for some other reason, please contact to our support staff and we will try to resolve this problem particularly.

"OFF during bootup" error of freeware versions is fixed now in the shareware versions.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I am none the wiser.
I am perfectly capable of using Hide My Files. The software itself is generally working OK.
I have not tried to change any time or dates as you suggested, I would not know how to anyway.
Occasionally the files are not hidded when I boot up, but otherwise the software is OK, as I said. But I did think it was time for the updated version of the freeware program.
It was only when trying to unzip the dowloaded upgrade that I was told that my version had expired.
I don't understand why it is doing this as the software is fine.

I don't wish to appear rude, but I really don't see the point of buying a better version. Especially as there is supposed to be an upgrade available for the freeware version. Still, you never know, in the future....

We don't support freeware versions now so unfortunately there is not upgrades for freeware Hide FIles. Today we update and support shareware versions of Hide Files only.
